Good Shepherd – Klaarstroom

Good Shepherd Church is situated in Klaarstroom, a small town close to the Meirings Poort. The church community is small but vibrant. Services are held at Klaarstroom every second Sunday of each month at 10h00.
It is recorded that the church was built by architect and builder George Wallis during the periods of 1863 and 1895. Interesting to note that prior to the Meirings Poort, the Rector had to travel via the Swartberg Pass and Prince Albert to marry four couples. Canon WG Sharples once had to make his way to the chapel, previously known as a hamlet, via the Poort in deep waters on horseback in 1912 to be at a confirmation service.
