Meet Our Rector
Reverend Stephanie Lynn Smit
Reverend Stephanie Lynn Smit originally from a small town called Mossel Bay, is the current Rector of St Jude’s Anglican Church. She obtained her Diploma in Theology and Ministry from TEE College in Johannesburg and spent one-year at the College of Transfiguration in Makhanda where she could engage in subjects such as Greek, Theology and Development and Church History to name but a few. She was made a deacon in the year 2018 and ordained to the priesthood in 2019.
In the year 2019, she had the opportunity to travel to Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, England, where she could be part of their Anglican Pilgrimage Program. Reverend Stephanie has served as assistant priest in the Parish of Holy Trinity Belvedere, situated in the beautiful garden route area and also served as assistant priest in the Parish of Formosa, Plettenberg Bay. She is the first female Rector of St Jude’s Oudtshoorn and is the 15th priest serving the parish.
Celebrating The Sacrament of Baptism
Moments in the Life of Our Church! – Historic Birthday Walk
St Jude’s is the oldest sandstone building in Oudtshoorn! As part of our “birthday” celebration we walked down the historic Baron Van Reede street visiting all the beautiful sandstone buildings! After the walk we made Anglican Rosaries!
